Ghost-hunting reality show Ghost Scene Investigation, or GSI, is losing ratings thanks to the attention gained by Scooby and the gang on the evening news. Mystery, Inc.’s homegrown investigative approach has caused some jealousy, as the GSI team finds fault in Mystery, Inc.’s intuitive ghost-hunting tactics.

Ghost-hunting reality show Ghost Scene Investigation, or GSI, is losing ratings thanks to the attention gained by Scooby and the gang on the evening news. Mystery, Inc.’s homegrown investigative approach has caused some jealousy, as the GSI team finds fault in Mystery, Inc.’s intuitive ghost-hunting tactics. The show’s producer, Mace Middlemost, chronically plagued by mediocre ratings, arranges a competition between the Scooby gang and GSI saying that, “ghost-hunting fans want to see a mystery solving battle between the two teams.”
GSI's team consists of the very best analytical minds of the skeptic community: Dr. Scott O'Mulligan, the only Rhodes Scholar to win the Heisman; Professor Lorelei Leigh, the dreamgirl of geeks everywhere; Monty Caswell, eccentric genius; and their revolutionary "tool," Catscan, an all-purpose portable laboratory in the form of a robotic cat. Not only are they a formidable braintrust, but GSI has no ethical compunction about cheating to become TV's favorite ghostbusting team.
As the game progresses, Mystery Inc. realizes that GSI has a mystery of their own - a phantom that has thwarted GSI on several occasions resulting in "unsolved mysteries." Now this Phantom seems bent on giving Mystery Inc. the same grief it has been giving GSI.
All the mysteries must be solved in order to get to the final mystery, where GSI and Mystery Inc. must join forces to uncover the true identity of the mysterious Phantom.
